Dental Fees

You are an individual and as such we think that your care and the costs involved should be tailored to your own individual requirements. Before beginning any treatment we will give you a written estimate of the likely costs.

Below is a guide to our fees from 2012 for the most common dental treatments and services.

New Patient Examination - £65
New Patient Extensive Examination - £155 (including any diagnostic procedures we consider appropriate e.g. x-rays, photographs etc)
- children £30 (not including x-rays)
Regular Oral Health Check - £55
- children £28
X-rays - from £16 each
Hygienist - £70
Fillings (all mercury-free) - from £103 each
- children's fillings from £45
Crowns - from £630
Root Canal Treatments - from £370 to £505
Partial Dentures - from £345
Tooth Whitening Kits (peroxide free) - from £35
Extractions - from £103
Ceramic Inlays (fillings) - from £630

New Patient Consultations

Before doing any treatment, other than in an emergency, we need to do a New Patient Consultation/Examination in order for us to:

  1. understand what your desires, goals, wishes etc are;
  2. ascertain the current state of your oral health;
  3. draw up plans of action and discuss these with you;
  4. where mercury toxicity is a concern, devise a detoxification programme to suit your individual needs.

Planning is the crux and cornerstone of all that follows. Radiographs are normally taken in order to diagnose any problems that are not visible to the naked eye e.g. beneath fillings, between teeth, the bone and supporting structures, abscesses, cysts tumours etc. However, if you would rather not have radiographs taken because of radiation concerns, we will abide by your wishes.

Payment of Dental Fees

Payments may be made by cash, but preferably - in the interests of security - by cheque, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Maestro, Solo or Delta.

Short term interest-free and low-cost finance over longer periods is available.

Payment is due on EACH APPOINTMENT for the treatment that has just been provided.

Monthly Payment Plans

As an alternative to paying as you go on a fee per item basis, we also offer monthly payment plans administrated on our behalf by Practice Plan Ltd. For a monthly payment, determined by your dental history such as the number of fillings, crowns etc. that you have, under our full capitation scheme you would have all treatment and maintenance covered - the only exception is you would be required to pay the technician fee for technician-based items such as crowns, bridges, ceramic inlays, dentures etc. Maintenance-only plans are also available for children up to the age of 18.

About Our Fees

Our fees reflect the many considerations we have to make when running a modern, up-to-date dental practice. These include the obvious such as providing the high quality of treatment and care you would expect as a minimum from us; the use of the best materials and consumables, many of which are single use and disposable to protect against cross-infection; and meeting the increasing number of regulations that are being introduced nationally to raise the minimum level of care.

In 2009 we incorporated a separate sterilisation room with all the necessary equipment to further increase our already high level of protection against cross infection, and in 2011 we have to show that we are undertaking all the required aspects of patient care as laid out by the Care Quality Commission. All of this involves costs which have to be reflected in our fee structure, but at the same time ensures we can continue to provide you with the highest levels of care we possibly can.

Fees also reflect the investment of our time etc. to do courses and other learning activities in the pursuit of greater knowledge, skills and expertise so that we can maintain our position at the forefront of dentistry and especially in the field of holistic dentistry which we consider to be so important both now and in the future.

However, we back this up with our promise not to charge for any replacement filling or restoration that, in the rare event of it failing through no fault of your own, needs to be re-done within a period of one year. There are even some things that we provide on a complimentary basis, such as most antibiotics/painkillers if provided as part of a course of treatment, and certain oral hygiene products in conjunction with hygienist appointments.
